Full Job Description

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Catering Team Member to join our dedicated team at Bury Hospice. This is a part-time role of 15 hours per week, working primarily at weekends, with occasional weekday shifts to support annual leave cover. The successful candidate will support the delivery of a high-quality catering service, providing a welcoming and professional experience for patients, families, visitors, and staff., As a Catering Team Member, you will support the day-to-day delivery of our catering service, preparing and serving meals and refreshments while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness. Working closely with the Catering Manager and wider clinical teams, you will help ensure patients receive meals that meet their individual dietary and nutritional needs, while providing a professional and welcoming service to visitors, staff and volunteers.,

  • Deliver a high standard of catering services to patients, visitors, staff, and volunteers, maintaining a professional and courteous approach at all times.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages to patients in accordance with their nutritional needs and assessments, as well as to staff and visitors, following planned menus and guidance from the Catering Manager.
  • Ensure all catering equipment is cleaned, maintained, and serviced in accordance with Hospice policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
  • Monitor stock levels of food, beverages, and catering supplies, reporting shortages to the Catering Manager in a timely manner.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning materials and notify the Catering Manager when replenishment is required.
  • Liaise with nursing and medical staff, when appropriate, regarding patients' dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety, Food Safety, and Infection Prevention and Control policies, ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout all catering areas.
  • Report maintenance issues, equipment faults, or health and safety concerns promptly to the Catering Manager.
  • Attend and successfully complete all required catering, mandatory, and statutory training, including both face-to-face and online learning.
  • Support and supervise volunteers within the catering service as required.
  • Contribute positively to the continuous improvement of the catering service and wider Hospice environment.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff and communicate clearly with colleagues, patients, visitors and volunteers
  • Maintaining high standards of food preparation & presentation.
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient while handling multiple tasks when under pressure.
