Catering Assistant

As part of the Catering Services team, you will play an important role in providing a professional, efficient and welcoming service across our retail catering outlets. Working under the direction of the Assistant Manager, you will support the day-to-day delivery of catering services, helping to maintain high standards of service, food hygiene and customer care. While the role will primarily focus on our retail catering operations, you may also be required to support hospitality and events, including the delivery, set-up, service and collection of food and beverages. You will be based primarily at Guy's Campus; however, flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work at other College catering outlets and campus locations as needed. We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join our team, working primarily at Guy's Campus. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will support the day-to-day running of our retail catering outlets. Your duties will include basic food preparation, food service, till operation, barista-style coffee preparation and maintaining high standards of food hygiene. You will help ensure our outlets run smoothly while providing a friendly, efficient and professional service to our customers. From time to time, you may also support our hospitality and events service. This could include the delivery and presentation of food and beverages, food and beverage service, and setting up and clearing rooms for events. This is a full-time position, working 5 days out of 7, including some evenings and weekends. About you: To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria
• Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
• Basic level of computer literacy (ability to access emails and online training)
• Experience of working in a catering environment and providing a service to customers
• Understanding of all relevant health, hygiene and safety regulations
• Good written and oral communication
• Experience of operating a till and taking payments
• Hold a current Food Handlers certificate
• Able to work flexible hours
Desirable criteria
• NVQ level 1 or equivalent catering qualification
• Hold a current Food Handlers certificate.
