Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for Casual Control Room Operatives to join our team. At Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, we believe in creating a workplace where people feel trusted, valued, and empowered to make a real difference. If you're looking for a career where your work directly contributes to safer communities and a better quality of life for residents and visitors alike - this is your opportunity. We're on the lookout for a motivated and tech-savvy individual to join our Security and Surveillance Team - a vital part of our mission to protect public spaces, reduce crime, and enhance community confidence. As a Control Room Operator, you'll be at the heart of our 24/7 operations, working in a modern CCTV and alarm receiving centre. We are looking for someone with potential to contribute to the Council's vision for a safer environment for both the communities our residents live in but also for visitors to our town centres, parks, and open spaces. Every day will be different, but the things you can expect to be involved in include:

  • Monitor live feeds to help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Respond to calls from the public and local businesses with professionalism and care
  • Use cutting-edge software to support real-time decision-making
  • Help protect council, business, and public assets across the borough
  • Your work will matter, as you will be directly supporting our goals to:
  • Reduce crime and environmental offences
  • Lower the fear of crime in our communities
  • Safeguard vehicles, property, and public spaces
  • Protecting our communities is a 24/7 operation, with 12-hour day and night shifts - its ideal for those who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments. Please ensure you refer to the Job Description and the essential and desirable criteria in the Person Specification when completing the Personal Statement on the application form, as this information is used to select candidates for interview.
