Full Job Description
Within our Academy transport team, we play an important part in helping young players travel safely and reliably as they move between home, school, training and fixtures. The department works closely with colleagues across the Academy to create a dependable, well-run service that supports both the daily routine and the wider development environment. The Role This role is central to the smooth running of Academy transport. You will help ensure players, staff and other authorised passengers travel safely, on time and in line with the standards expected across Manchester City, making sure every journey is delivered with care, professionalism and respect. Your day-to-day work will include following approved routes and transport instructions, carrying out vehicle checks, keeping the vehicle clean and presentable, using satellite navigation and journey-planning systems, and completing the administrative tasks that help keep operations organised. The work is varied and can include early starts, evenings, weekends and matchday travel depending on the Academy schedule. You will also work closely with colleagues, families, players and visitors, sharing updates clearly, reporting delays or incidents promptly and following safeguarding, health and safety and transport procedures at all times. In doing so, you will help create a reliable service that supports the Academy environment and the young people who rely on it.
Based in Manchester, this casual role supports the Academy transport programme by safely moving players and, where required, staff between their homes, schools, training venues, match locations and other approved destinations. Working hours vary with the Academy training and fixture schedule, including evenings, weekends and early-morning or daytime shifts, so the role suits someone who can bring reliability, flexibility and a calm professional approach.,
- A valid UK driving licence and the ability to meet the role's licence-check and insurer requirements
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, early mornings and other variable shifts in line with Academy needs.
- Clear and effective communication skills when working with young people, families, colleagues and visitors.
- Confidence using satellite navigation, journey-planning tools and basic Microsoft Office or administrative systems.
- A professional, safeguarding-aware approach, with attention to detail in vehicle checks, cleanliness and records.
