Job Overview

The Army United Kingdom offers a full-time soldier position as an entry-level Carpenter with a salary of £27,282 a year (after training). Master your craft and learn to use it all over the world.

Responsibilities

• Plan carpentry and joinery tasks from sketches and apply them in the field.


• Learn to use and maintain workshop machinery.


• Prepare timber for use, manufacture joints, use adhesives, produce windows, door frames, and fitments.


• Carry out general construction work including first-fix timber frames and second-fix joinery fitments.


• Construct scaffolding, interpret scaffold terms, erect access scaffold, and install ladders.


• Install partitions, floors, roofing, timber-framed buildings, formwork, and shoring.


• Study for carpentry qualifications (including Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Carpentry and Joining (Military Engineering) and Level 2 apprenticeship).

Qualifications

• Be between 16 years 6 months and 35 years 6 months.


• Have a GCSE Grade A-C/9-5 or Scottish National 5 in Maths, English Language, and one other subject.


• Be able to pass a basic fitness test.
