About the Direct Payment Holder This role involves supporting a 15-year-old boy who is an absolute joy to spend time with. He is musical, loves listening to songs and singing along, enjoys stories, and likes using cause-and-effect toys and iPad games. He has a gentle and kind nature, and enjoys going out, visiting zoos, attending local events, and he would very much like to go swimming at weekends. He has a visual impairment, severe learning disabilities, moderate physical disability and epilepsy. He requires full support with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, mobility and feeding. He is able to walk independently but benefits from prompts, assistance, and regular opportunities to rest. Hours and rate of pay 4 hours on Saturdays, up to 3 Saturdays a month (can be negotiated or moved to a Sunday). One after-school session per week: 3:30pm-7:30pm. Hourly rate: £18.92 Location LU2, a village in North Hertfordshire DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check Right to Work and references will be needed. Training Full Mandatory Training will be offered including: Epilepsy
- Safeguarding Children Introduction to first aid Health and Safety Moving and handling What you would be doing… Supporting the young person to access activities and follow therapy programmes. Driving him to the swimming pool at weekends, assisting with changing, and providing full support and close supervision in and around the pool. Providing prompts and assistance with personal care, eating and drinking. Supporting him during community outings and activities.
Someone physically fit, active, and confident in the water, able to safely support him in the swimming pool. Must have experience working with people with learning disabilities and speech and language difficulties. Must be musical and enjoy stories. Experience with epilepsy is essential.
