Full Job Description
This role is to support a happy and sociable 6-year-old girl with autism and ADHD who enjoys spending time with others and taking part in fun activities. She particularly enjoys being outdoors, visiting farms, going to parks, and taking part in sensory and movement-based activities. She is a friendly and engaging child who enjoys social interaction and being out in the community. She is toilet trained, but may require gentle prompting and supervision when using the toilet while out and about. At times she may experience sensory sensitivities and may need calm support when transitioning between activities or if environments become overwhelming. She benefits from patient, consistent and understanding adults who have an awareness of supporting children with additional needs. Hours and rate of pay Hours: 2 hours per week initially Day: Saturday afternoons (typically between 1pm - 3pm) Future opportunities: There may be opportunities for the hours to increase over time depending on needs and funding arrangements. Location Watford (WD24) DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check Right to Work and references will be needed. Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
- Safeguarding Adults
- Introduction to first aid
- Health and Safety What you would be doing… The Carer will support the child to access the community and participate in enjoyable activities. This may include visits to local parks, farms, sensory activities, soft play, or other child-friendly outings. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the child to safely access and enjoy community activities
- Engaging in play and age-appropriate outings
- Supporting transitions between activities
- Providing reassurance if the child becomes overwhelmed
- Prompting and supervising with toilet use when required
- Ensuring the child's safety and wellbeing at all times Ideally the Carer will be able to drive and have access to their own vehicle with appropriate insurance to support community outings, although this is not essential if activities can be accessed locally. The person I would like… A kind, patient and reliable female Personal Assistant is preferred for this role. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children and supporting them to access activities in the community. The person should be:
- Calm, engaging and dependable
- Understanding of children with additional needs
- Confident supporting children in community settings
- Able to provide reassurance and gentle guidance Experience supporting children with autism or additional needs would be beneficial.
