Full Job Description
The Careers Adviser plays a vital role in supporting students at all stages of their educational journey. You will deliver a comprehensive programme of careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG), working closely with students, staff, parents and external partners, following the Gatsby Benchmarks. In this role, you will:
- Provide engaging one-to-one careers guidance to students across the school, particularly in Years 11 and VI Form
- Support students in making informed choices at key transition points, including GCSE, A Level, university and alternative pathways
- Guide students through application processes, including UCAS, apprenticeships and employment opportunities
- Deliver careers education as part of the PSHE programme and contribute to wider enrichment opportunities
- Organise visits, events and partnerships with universities, employers and other external organisations, conferences and careers shows
- Maintain and develop strong links with industry and higher education providers
- Support the Sixth Form team in delivering high-quality UCAS and apprenticeship processes, including advising on current developments
- Provide tailored advice for students pursuing competitive pathways, including apprenticeships and specialist routes
- Raise awareness of careers provision through events such as parents' evenings, assemblies and open events
- Track and analyse student destinations to inform strategic development of the careers programme
- Lead the ongoing development of the school's careers provision, ensuring it reflects best practice and innovation This is a varied and highly rewarding role, requiring energy, initiative and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
