Full Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic staff nurse to join our team within the cardiology catheter labs. The applicant should be able to work under pressure and ideally have a knowledge of cardiology procedures carried out within the unit. The applicant should be a team player and be able to react to the switch between specialities within the labs. Initially will be a band 5 post with progression to band 6 once all training has been completed. Part of the role there will be a requirement to rotate onto the day case unit whereby there will be a requirement to take charge within this capacity and co ordinate the daily activities., As a cardiology catheter lab nurse you will be instrumental in supporting the registrar and consultant, within a small team you will be responsible for sedation and airway management of patients undergoing procedures and ensure that this is completed in a professional and safe manner following up to date guidelines available. Monitoring of the patient throughout the procedure and a safe handover is given to the returning ward. You will be expected to cover on call on evenings, weekend and bank holidays on a rota basis, and undertake all other aspects of your job role as required.
This is a busy unit where we take elective patients, inpatients and emergency patients for procedures. Due to the geographical area this incorporates a wide range of people from many different locations. The nursing team works alongside the cardiac physiologists and radiologists in a multidisciplinary manner leading to strong inter team relationships whereby we support one another in our day to day working. Through rotation strong working relationships will be formed with the cardiac day case unit who are instrumental in preparing patients for their procedures for both elective and interpatient transfers.
