Cardiac Physiologist / Cardiac Scientist

You will be an experienced and independent practitioner, responsible for delivering a wide range of complex cardiac diagnostic investigations and procedures, both invasive and non-invasive, across various clinical settings. In the role, the you will support high standards of clinical care through expert practice, quality assurance, and professional development. The role involves active participation in the delivery of the 24/7 PPCI service (which includes participation in the on-call rota) Provide mentorship and training of junior staff and students, and continuous contribution to service development and innovation. You will also play a key role in ensuring patient safety, service effectiveness, and adherence to national and local policies and protocolsMain duties, tasks & skills required Actively participate in a range of clinical service areas to include 12 lead ECG, ambulatory monitoring, physiology-led exercise tolerance testing, Cardiac TILT testing, cardiac angiography and cardiac rhythm management To manage own case- load using clinical expertise and judgement to prioritise workload and ensure the service is used effectively and appropriately. Practices in accordance with the Society of Cardiological Science and Technology Code of Conduct. Is accountable for own practice and for appropriate delegation of responsibilities he/she delegates to colleagues Report to the relevant Lead Physiologist; with the ability to work independently and part of a team. Ensure accurate records are maintained regarding all implants and all Cath lab cases i.e. patient details, device details, chronologically accurate case report for consultant sign off, accurate reporting of all inventory consumables used. Takes timely action, appropriately escalating to Cardiology team or working with other agencies as required. Recognises, responds to and appropriately manages emergency situations, such as cardiac/cardio-pulmonary arrest or other life-threatening scenarios. Responsible for delivering a wide range of complex cardiac diagnostic investigations and procedures, both invasive and non-invasive. This will involve interpreting diagnostic tests and interrogating complex implantable electronic devices. As an independent practitioner the post holder will be responsible for highlighting any issues or untoward results regarding patient care and relevant diagnostic reports. Responsible for the patients in their care either individually or as a shared responsibility with other technical colleagues or with medics. BSc degree or equivalent in Cardiac Physiology, RCCP/AHCS registration Post graduate experience working in an acute clinical environment, Proven experience across a broad range of cardiac investigation, diagnostic and interventional procedures Experience in audit and data reporting, Demonstrable knowledge of all cardiac procedures and techniques within the scope of a physiologist. Demonstrates sound clinical knowledge and up to date physiologist practice with evidence of critical thinking and problem solving Able to manage own workload and that of others where appropriate. Ability to oversee junior members of staff and support with training as appropriate Able to demonstrate a good standard of English language Able to provide resuscitation to patients Able to meet the physical demands of the job such as moving and handling patients and assembling, operating and maintaining clinical equipment To participate in Cath Lab on-call service
