Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an ambitious and motivated Capital Projects Manager to join our growing Redevelopment Team. Working across our Bedford and Luton hospital sites, you will help deliver an exciting portfolio of capital investment projects. What You'll Be Doing As a Capital Projects Manager, you will lead the delivery of a varied portfolio of capital projects from concept through to completion. Projects may include:
- Clinical refurbishments and service improvements
- New healthcare facilities and infrastructure schemes
- Estate modernisation projects
- Sustainability and environmental improvements
- Strategic redevelopment initiatives across hospital sites, The Capital Projects Manager is responsible for the management and delivery of allocated capital redevelopment projects and workstreams within the Trust's Redevelopment Programme. The post holder will lead the planning, development, procurement, implementation and monitoring of complex construction and infrastructure projects, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, quality, financial and programme objectives.Working under the direction of the Construction Project Director, the post holder will apply specialist project management expertise to manage multiple projects simultaneously through all stages of the project lifecycle, from feasibility and business case development through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and project close-down., The Capital Projects Manager may supervise junior project staff, apprentices, consultants and contractors and will act as a professional role model, promoting the Trust's values and supporting the delivery of a safe, efficient and patient-focused built environment., Working within a high performing and dynamic team, you will play a key role in the Trusts commitment to deliver optimal care to our patients in a modern and sustainable environment. - An experienced project manager with a track record of delivering capital, construction, estates or infrastructure projects
- Organised, proactive and solution focused
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Skilled in building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Confident analysing information, solving problems and making informed decisions
- Passionate about delivering high-quality outcomes that improve services and environments for patients and staff, Education/Qulaifications Essential
- Degree level qualification in Project Management, Construction Management, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, Estates Management or other relevant discipline. Evidence of continuing professional development. Educated to master's level equivalent experience through project delivery. Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject. PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, MSP or equivalent project management qualification. Membership of a relevant professional body (APM, RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE, CIBSE or equivalent). Knowledge Essential
- Sound knowledge of project management principles and methodologies. Understanding of construction and redevelopment project lifecycles. Knowledge of procurement processes and contract management. Understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to construction projects. Understanding of budget management and financial reporting processes. Desirable
- Knowledge of NHS governance arrangements and capital business case processes. Knowledge of NHS England capital investment processes. Knowledge of sustainability principles within healthcare estates. Knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction assurance processes. Understanding of estate compliance and engineering systems within healthcare settings. Experience Essential
- Significant experience of managing capital, construction, infrastructure, estates or redevelopment projects from inception to completion. Experience of managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously. Experience of managing project budgets, financial monitoring and reporting. Experience of managing contractors, consultants and external suppliers. Experience of stakeholder engagement across multiple professional groups. Experience of project governance, risk management and change control processes. Desirable
- Experience of delivering projects within the NHS or healthcare environment. Experience of working within a large complex public sector organisation. Experience of NEC, JCT or other construction contract administration. Experience of business case development and capital planning processes. Experience of healthcare planning, HTMs and HBNs. Experience of working on live operational sites.
