Full Job Description

The post holder will be responsible for the line management of the Cancer Services administration team, including a team of MDT Co-ordinators, Cancer Trackers, and RDS Co-ordinators and thus the smooth and efficient running of the Cancer Services performance functions., The post holder will be responsible for the efficient running of all cancer MDTs, including the management of video conferencing equipment, alongside this you will be responsible for supporting the systems for timely collection of cancer clinical data and recording. The post holder will be required to work with clinicians, particularly senior cancer consultants who attend cancer MDT meetings. The post holder will be required to have a reasonable level of knowledge regarding systems for data collection and will ensure the accurate and timely collection of complex cancer data. The post holder will have responsibility for data entry and validation, to ensure that all data submissions are accurate prior to submission, this will require regular periods of prolonged concentration. The role involves the line management of a large team of MDT, RDS, and Cancer Trackers ensuring that they are working in the most efficient manner to support suspected and diagnosed cancer patients in line with national Cancer Waiting Times (CWT). As this is a large team it is essential that the post holder can prioritise the line management aspects of the role and ensuring all staff are adequately supported to perform at their best ability., · Provide complex and sensitive data collection, data input and validation to support all national cancer clinical audit datasets. · Responsibility for ensuring the trust has systems and procedures for ensuring all the national cancer clinical audit databases have accurate and complete data submissions, within the nationally dictated timescales. · Work with the Cancer Data Manager to support validation of CWT data. · Responsible for the allocation of workload within the team to ensure that all key tasks are covered at all times. · Ensure that cancer PTLs are tracked to a high standard and delays in patient pathways are escalated in line with the trust escalation policy; and ensure that the team maintain KPIs for tracking statistics. · Ensure that accurate records for cancer diagnosis and FDS are maintained and escalated in line with the trust escalation policy. · Attend Tumour Site Specific MDT & PTL meetings. To ensure all actions are recorded and completed appropriately regarding follow-up appointments, theatre, and diagnostics as a priority to ensure patient pathways are maintained to avoid breaches. · To produce the necessary reports for the weekly PTL meetings. · Ensure a robust process for the management of leave requests (annual, study, sickness, maternity, and paternity). · Support the MDT co-ordinators to ensure the smooth running of the cancer MDT meetings. · To form good working relationships with key personnel to influence change · Communicate information, sometimes of a sensitive nature with Department Manager and nursing staff, external staff, clerical, managerial and admin staff. · Maintain advanced IT skills to enable effective record monitoring, report extraction and ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point, Desktop Publisher, and Outlook. · Ensure effective management of holidays and study leave to ensure staffing levels are always correct for local procedures. · Manage processes for flagging of abnormal results to ensure patients and tracked and discussed at the relevant cancer MDTs. · Work with the Directorate Management team to continually influence and support positive change. · Deputise for the Cancer Data and Performance Manager during periods of absence.

  • 5 GCSE including English at 'C'/'4' grade or above or equivalent
  • Extensive NHS experience
  • Desirable criteria
  • Educated to degree level, Advanced IT and keyboard skills.
  • Knowledge of systems and processes in an Acute NHS Trust.
  • In depth knowledge of Cerner & clinic management.
  • Understanding of policies and procedures around annual/study leave.
  • Collection and recording of data.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience of audit work and collecting audit data.
