In line with the government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, working in the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.

This post will provide a CYP early intervention service within CAMHS to children, young people, their families and the education workforce within the mental health support team (MHST) and partner education sites. This is a community-based post located within the Bedfordshire and Luton Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and education sites offering flexible, evidence-based episodes of care, assessments and treatments to a wide variety of mild to moderate presentations., This role will function to achieve the key ambition of the MHST: direct intervention to children, young people and their families, through 1:1, group and whole classroom interventions; support the designated senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school or college approach; Give timely advice to school, college and community staff, and liaise with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education. The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team in this early intervention pathway. The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.

In addition to the applicants CYP mental health expertise the post holder will be expected to contribute to service's universal offer through psychoeducation, assemblies, transition preparation and partner education; consultations relating individual CYP; CPD of the trainee education mental health practitioners (EMHP); contribution to community development such as communities of practice and attendance at education forums such as SENCO and designated safeguarding leads forums.
