This role is aBand 7 Senior Practitioner for Children & Young Peoplewithin the North Mental Health Liaison Team (MHLT), focused on leading crisis care for young people presenting toNMGH A&Ewith mental health needs. It combinesspecialist clinical leadership,complex case management,direct assessment/intervention, andmulti-agency pathway development.

Role overview

You would be theclinical lead for Children & Young People (CYP)within an established Mental Health Liaison Team. The role centres on improving outcomes for young people in crisis, strengthening pathways between A&E, inpatient wards, CAMHS, and wider CYP services across Greater Manchester.

· Provide specialist CAMHS clinical leadership, supervision, support and consultation to the MDT in the MHLS team, in line with relevant clinical pathway, as outlined within the operational procedures and relevant service specification.

· Be expected to take a lead on developing and maintaining robust holistic care pathways into wider Children and Young Peoples' services, from the general hospital.

· Lead on the development of the MDT knowledge and skills set around the assessment and response to the needs of Children and Young People. This will be achieved through the delivery of training, consultation and supervision as core aspects of this role. The standards and content of which would be in line with national guidance, agreed best practice and be centred on a standardised core set of clinical competencies.

· Support the management of the integrated MHLS multidisciplinary 24-hour mental health service.

· Provide direct patient interventions for Children and Young People, focusing on relapse prevention, early discharge and improved quality of life for patients referred to the service.

· Be expected to individually provide, and support the wider MDT in providing, safe and comprehensive assessments of CYP in A & E department. Which would include offering advice, support and consultation in the development of highly developed risk assessments and management plans for this patient group.
