The key focus areas for the job and things you can expect to do as our Buying & Trading Assistant are around:

System Management & Data Entry

Setting up new products in our EPR epos system with high accuracy.

Uploading a variety of data on the system including things like product categories, supplier IDs, costs, retail prices, PLU numbers, and barcodes.

Managing inventory, including removing discontinued/out-of-stock items and processing new stock intakes.

Supply Chain & Stock Allocation

Liaising with our suppliers and the Tenovus Cancer Care warehouse to gather necessary product specifications, lead times, images, and order updates.

Coordinating shop allocations alongside the Buying Manager ahead of scheduled stock deliveries.

Collaborating with internal finance teams, as well as area management, to ensure feedback is acted upon, and purchase orders are raised on time.

Resolving discrepancy reports flagged by the physical store locations

Supplier & Store Engagement

Attending supplier meetings (both in-person and online), capture detailed minutes, note actionable steps, and assist with future product selection.

Acting as one of the operational contacts for physical store managers regarding New Goods queries.

Conducting shop visits to help implement visual merchandising and gather feedback directly from retail staff.

Commercial Analysis & Strategy

Monitoring best-selling lines and proactively submit recommendations for repeat orders and product updates.

Producing analysis reports regularly to review product and shop performance.

E-Commerce Support

Supporting the future development of the online shop by assisting with all necessary admin, such as product listings, imagery and category changes.

Supporting internal and external customer service queries relating to orders, deliveries and products.

Are we talking to you?

The job's well suited to you if you're great at using computers and are a good administrator. You might have a background in retail administration, buying support, supply chain logistics, or stock control that would lend itself to a Buying & Trading Assistant role well.

Being able to use multiple systems and feeling comfortable managing large product data sets would be useful.

It's a busy job that can have many moving parts and deadlines so you're super organised and do great in managing your own time, prioritising and can pivot your attention easily to focus where it's important.

You enjoy working with numbers as well as products, can spot market trends, and know how to put together things like a SWOT analysis and come up with sensible solutions proactively.

It's not just a numbers and computer type of role as much of what you do is interacting with people. You'll engage well communicating on the phone, email and sometimes in person with a variety of people from our teams across Tenovus cancer Care like Marketing, Finance and the Warehouse team as well as our external customers and suppliers.
