Full Job Description

As a Buyer at Hill, you'll lead the procurement of materials and plant across multiple residential projects. Working closely with internal teams and external suppliers, you'll make sure every order supports value, quality, and programme delivery-without compromise. You'll manage live projects of different sizes and complexities, contribute to cost planning, and champion procurement best practice. Whether you're resolving delivery issues, proposing commercial efficiencies or supporting junior colleagues, you'll play a central role in our collaborative and fast-paced team. What you'll do:

  • Procure materials and plant for multiple live developments
  • Issue enquiries, analyse quotations, and place accurate purchase orders
  • Track requisitions and monitor supply chain performance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers
  • Ensure products meet specifications, accreditations and delivery schedules
  • Work with Commercial, Technical, Accounts and Production teams to align procurement activity
  • Propose new cost-saving and supply chain strategies
  • Contribute to planning meetings and help resolve procurement-related issues
  • Mentor and support junior colleagues where appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with Hill's procurement processes and financial procedures

    Strong procurement experience within residential construction
  • Proven ability to manage procurement for multiple live sites
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to negotiation and value engineering
  • Confident user of procurement systems and Excel
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of RC frame and traditional build methods
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure
  • A solution-focused mindset and attention to detail
