The Business Unit Senior Quality Manager plays a vital role in assuring the quality of work undertaken across the @one Alliance, from project inception to asset delivery and handover.
The role is key to assuring consistent quality of work, delivering a right first-time approach of the delivery of all aspects of @One alliance & AW capital delivery programme.
Leading BU site-based assurance: manage SQEs and QA/QC Engineers; deliver inspection cadence, backlog burn-down, and protect milestones with pre-DM4 readiness. Working with project teams & suppliers to ensure all work is up to standards, where work does not meet standards leading process to ensure that future defects are avoided.
The role is key to providing the @one Alliance with analysis of work carried out and creating salient reports to show where work doesn't meet the standard expected enabling @one Alliance to improve the quality of work carried out and reduce the need to revisit future defects, improving customer and stakeholder confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Leading business unit quality assurance across sites, managing Quality Managers, Senior Quality Engineers and QA/QC Engineers
Establishing and maintaining a robust inspection cadence, ensuring early issue identification, backlog reduction and consistent Handover readiness
Driving a right-first-time approach by identifying defects, leading corrective actions and preventing recurrence across the delivery programme
Overseeing ITPs, witness testing and lifecycle quality assurance through construction, commissioning and asset handover
Providing clear, data-driven insight through reports and dashboards, highlighting trends, risks and improvement opportunities
Translating quality performance into commercial impact, linking defects and rework to cost, programme and productivity
Building strong relationships with project teams, SHEA, commissioning and supply chain partners to align expectations and priorities
Championing digital and standardised quality approaches to improve consistency, efficiency and accuracy
Creating a high-performance, inclusive culture through visible leadership, coaching and continuous improvement
Significant experience leading quality assurance in complex construction or infrastructure environments, ideally within utilities or water
Strong knowledge of quality management systems, auditing and standards such as ISO 9001
A confident, values-led leadership style with the ability to challenge constructively and influence at all levels
Proven ability to use data and insight to drive better outcomes, reduce rework and protect delivery milestones
Excellent communication skills, with the credibility to build trust across project teams, partners and stakeholders
