Full Job Description

Are you an experienced fleet, plant or transport professional looking for an opportunity where you can lead, influence and make a real impact?
We are recruiting for a Business Unit Fleet & Plant Manager to lead our fleet, plant, transport and logistics operations across the business. This is a key leadership role within our Senior Management Team, where you'll work collaboratively with teams across FM Conway to create safe, efficient and well-supported operations, while helping us continuously improve the way we manage our people, vehicles and assets.
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with a collaborative and people-focused leadership style, and who enjoys building relationships, developing teams and bringing new ideas to the table.
The duties of the Business Unit Fleet & Plant Manager role will include:
+ Leading our fleet, plant, transport and logistics operations, ensuring teams have the support and resources they need to deliver a safe, efficient and reliable service
+ Working collaboratively across the business to ensure compliance with Operator Licence requirements, DVSA, FORS, Drivers' Hours, MOT, LOLER and PUWER regulations
+ Overseeing driver, vehicle and plant compliance, including inspections, maintenance, training, licensing and tachograph requirements
+ Monitoring OCRS, audit findings and compliance performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting teams with appropriate actions
+ Managing fleet and plant availability, maintenance planning and asset utilisation to meet the needs of our operational teams
+ Leading fleet and plant procurement, asset lifecycle planning, replacement programmes and disposal
+ Managing Fleet & Plant budgets, CapEx, forecasts and supplier relationships, balancing commercial requirements with quality and value
+ Using telematics and fleet management systems, including Samsara, to support safer driving, improve asset utilisation and identify opportunities for greater efficiency
+ Building strong relationships across FM Conway and representing the business at relevant industry groups and forums, including Logistics UK and CLOCS
+ Supporting, developing and empowering our transport and logistics teams, creating an environment where people can perform at their best and contribute ideas for continuous improvement

You'll bring strong experience within fleet, plant, transport or logistics operations, along with a good understanding of Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation.
You'll hold a valid and up-to-date Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) for Transport Managers and a full UK driving licence.
Alongside your technical knowledge, we're looking for someone who is approachable, organised and confident building relationships at all levels. You'll be comfortable managing budgets and using data to make informed decisions, while bringing a leadership style that encourages collaboration, supports development and gets the best from your team.
Experience using fleet management systems and telematics platforms will also be important. A relevant professional qualification and NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification would be desirable, but not essential.
