Full Job Description
We're recruiting a Business Support colleague to join our Young People's Drug and Alcohol Service at Milton Keynes City Council. This is a rewarding role that helps ensure young people across Milton Keynes receive timely, well-coordinated and high-quality support. You'll be part of the Youth Drug and Alcohol Solutions team, known as YDAS, who deliver a high quality and caring service for young people aged 18. The team works with young people affected by their own or someone else's substance use, and with those who want to learn more to make informed and healthier choices. YDAS supports young people to develop skills and strategies so they can flourish and lead healthy, happy and safe lives. A member of the team meets young people in environments where they feel safe and comfortable, supporting trust and engagement. The team also delivers drug and alcohol awareness sessions to professionals, schools, individuals and groups across the city. In this role, you'll provide vital business and administrative support that allows practitioners to focus on direct work with young people. You'll help coordinate meetings, manage information, support reporting, and keep systems running smoothly. Site-Based role This is a Site-Based role, and you'll be expected to work from the designated workplace. - Provide professional administrative and business support to the Young People's Drug and Alcohol Service.
- Manage communications, diaries, meetings and high-level minutes to support practitioners and service delivery.
- Produce clear and accurate reports using information management systems to support monitoring and statutory returns.
- Support the delivery of drug and alcohol awareness sessions, training events and community activities.
- Maintain high standards of data quality and confidentiality for national and local reporting requirements.
- Work closely with colleagues and partners to promote the service and support the induction of new team members.
Strong administrative experience, with the ability to balance competing priorities in a calm, organised and reliable way. - Clear and confident communication skills, enabling positive engagement with a wide range of people, including young people and partner professionals.
- A professional, discreet and respectful approach to handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Confidence using IT systems, alongside a willingness to learn and adapt to new digital tools and ways of working.
- At least two years' experience of working with young people affected by substance misuse, demonstrating empathy, care and respect when supporting them and responding to complex needs.
- Ways of working that reflect our values of being Dedicated, Respectful and Collaborative.
- Preferably a clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as some travel within Milton Keynes As part of the pre-employment checks, should you be offered the role, we'll carry out an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, (unless you are currently registered with the DBS Update Service).

'Site based' roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst 'home based' roles are based at home four days a week.
