Full Job Description

As a Business Support Officer, you will undertake a varied range of administrative duties, including:

  • Answering and responding to telephone calls, taking messages, and directing enquiries appropriately.
  • Managing team inboxes and responding to enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Completing statutory checks and obtaining references.
  • Liaising with partner agencies and professionals.
  • Supporting staff to meet key deadlines.
  • Managing filing systems and archiving documents.
  • Processing and paying invoices, ensuring financial records are maintained accurately.
  • Organising and coordinating meetings and events.
  • Preparing agendas and taking accurate minutes.
  • Producing correspondence and supporting documentation for families and professionals.
  • Running reports and maintaining databases.
  • Assisting with the allocation and tracking of work.
  • Monitoring tasks to ensure they are completed accurately and on time.
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducting research using available resources, including online systems and organisational tools, and presenting findings within agreed timescales.

    Has excellent verbal and written communication skills and is confident dealing with enquiries by telephone, email and in person.
  • Is highly organised, with strong time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Has experience carrying out administrative and financial processes, including invoice processing.
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office applications to produce reports, letters, forms and statistical information.
  • Can work independently, use initiative and maintain attention to detail.
  • Is flexible, adaptable and committed to supporting the aims and values of the service and Central Bedfordshire Council.
