Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Environmental Health team as a Business Support Assistant on a fixed-term basis in response to new duties such as the Renters' Rights Act 2025; there is potential to extend subject to funding., As a Business Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Environmental Health service by providing high-quality administrative and customer support. Acting as a key point of contact for residents, businesses, colleagues and partner organisations, you will help ensure our services are responsive, efficient and customer-focused.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will manage enquiries, maintain records and databases, process correspondence and payments, support performance monitoring, and assist officers across the service with a range of administrative tasks., For many of our roles, our hybrid work model enables employees to work remotely while allowing for in-office collaboration opportunities across the district, with an expectation of being in the office at least two days a week. However, please note that some positions may require a more consistent presence in the office due to the nature of the work.

Working for the council

We're looking for an organised, customer-focused individual who thrives in a busy administrative environment and enjoys supporting both colleagues and customers. You will be confident managing a varied workload, able to prioritise tasks effectively, and committed to providing an excellent service at all times.
You will have experience working in an administrative or customer-facing role and be comfortable handling enquiries by telephone, email and in person.
You will have strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records, process information efficiently, and work confidently with a range of IT systems. Experience of financial administration or working within a regulatory or local government environment would be advantageous.
An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. HDC does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.
