Full Job Description

As a Business Service Assistant, you'll be involved in lots of different tasks as you support the day-to-day running of the office. This is a busy and varied job; no two days will be the same. You'll have an important part to play in your team meeting its goals, so you'll always be looking at how you can offer help where needed. For this role, you'll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role. What it's like to work here You'll report to the Facilities and Support Services Manager, supporting the South Downs Central Countryside Team at our offices on the Slindon Estate. You'll provide administrative support specifically to the countryside team who care for over 2000 hectares of woodland, heathland, downland, mixed agricultural land, sand dunes and salt marsh habitat. The team consists of 5 Rangers, an Apprentice Ranger, a Facilities Manager and a wider cohort of countryside volunteers. The administrative focus will therefore be countryside orientated, supporting operational delivery, coordination, compliance tasks, and the day to day needs of a busy, restore nature focused team. What you'll be doing You'll be helping to run a business service for the wider team that is efficient, proactive and flexible. Your responsibilities will include responding to public enquiries, maintaining accurate electronic and paper records, supporting the Ranger team with financial tracking, and assisting the Facilities Manager with compliance and environmental monitoring and other general administrative tasks.

We'd love to hear from you if you are:

  • focused on giving great service to everyone you meet
  • a team player, but also happy to work on your own initiative
  • well-organised and adaptable
  • willing to learn new skills
  • comfortable using IT packages
