Full Job Description
The Business Operations Manager plays a key role in ensuring Qs planning and operations run smoothly, efficiently and in alignment with the NHS alliances organisational strategy. The post holder is responsible for coordinating operational planning, governance, financial management processes and delivery systems, enabling teams across Q to deliver high-quality work consistently. Acting as an operational leader and trusted partner to teams, the role supports strategic follow-through, embeds continuous improvement, manages operational risk and strengthens ways of working. Main duties of the job,
- Leading Q's annual planning and quarterly review processes.
- Coordinating governance arrangements and supporting leadership and advisory group meetings.
- Managing budget planning, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Overseeing contracts, suppliers and procurement processes.
- Supporting effective use of operational systems including CRM, SharePoint and project management tools.
- Managing operational risk processes and business continuity activities.
- Monitoring performance against agreed objectives, KPIs and delivery milestones.
- Driving improvements in ways of working, systems and organisational effectiveness.
- Embedding equality, diversity and inclusion throughout all aspects of your work., Coordinate and manage Qs annual planning process, ensuring plans align with agreed strategic priorities and organisational requirements. Manage quarterly planning, reporting and review cycles, maintaining dashboards and producing clear, timely reports for the Q Leadership team and strategic Advisory Group.
- Provide oversight of Qs operational governance arrangements, ensuring consistent frameworks, compliance with organisational policies and quality standards across teams. This includes support to the strategic Advisory Group and relevant sub-committees, including agenda planning, paper coordination and meeting logistics.
- Coordinate delivery oversight for commitments to country partners, including monitoring MOU obligations, supporting review meetings, and facilitating planning activity.
- Lead the development and management of Qs annual budget and quarterly reforecasts, working in close partnership with the Managing Director, Deputy Director, and NHS A Finance team. Work collaboratively with NHS A colleagues to ensure compliance with financial controls, procurement requirements, and reporting processes. Oversee all internal and external financial reporting for Q, ensuring outputs are accurate, transparent, and aligned with agreed plans and approvals.
- Oversee contracts and supplier activity, including tender processes, contract reviews and monitoring delivery to ensure value for money.
- Act as a key point of guidance on internal systems (CRM, SharePoint, project tools) supporting teams to use these effectively and consistently.
- Coordinate operational risk management across Q, ensuring risks are identified, documented, monitored and appropriately escalated. Support teams to implement and manage mitigation actions, strengthening resilience and continuity of delivery.
- Monitor performance against agreed KPIs and delivery milestones, highlighting variances and supporting corrective action where needed.

Experience Essential - 1. Extensive experience in financial management, including leading and co ordinating budget
- setting and reforecasting within a complex organisation, and supporting the development
- accurate, high-quality financial reports aligned to approved plans.
- 2. The role requires proven ability to work closely with senior leaders and finance colleagues,
- translating complex financial information clearly to support decision-making. Strong
- analytical, organisational, and stakeholder-management skills, alongside a high level of
- attention to detail, are essential.
- 3. Experience of supporting risk management, governance and compliance processes, this
- includes strong analytical and problem-solving skills, using data to identify risks,
- opportunities, and improvements.
- 4. Project management experience, including coordinating complex activity across multiple
- teams.
- 5. Demonstrable success in improving organisational processes, systems or ways of working.
- 6. Strong working knowledge of informational and collaboration systems (eg MS Office, Teams,
- SharePoint, CRM) Desirable
- 1. Project management qualification
- 2. Experience supporting change management initiatives.
