Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint proactive Business Development Officers to drive apprenticeship and employer training growth by developing new business opportunities and building strong relationships with employers across digital, health and life sciences, professional services, and construction & engineering, including green skills. You will be responsible for generating new business, developing and managing a strong sales pipeline, promoting our apprenticeship and training programmes, and delivering monthly recruitment and business development targets. You will work closely with employers to understand their workforce and skills need and develop tailored solutions that support their recruitment, upskilling and reskilling strategies. This is a fast-paced, target-driven and outward-facing role that would suit someone who enjoys winning new business, building meaningful employer relationships and converting opportunities into results. Experience within apprenticeships, commercial training or the Further Education sector would be advantageous, but we are particularly interested in candidates with a strong track record in business development and sales.,

  • identify and secure new business through sales calls, meetings, presentations, events, networking and targeted campaigns.
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline, meeting monthly apprenticeship starts and KPI targets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing employers, identifying opportunities across our apprenticeship and training offer.
  • Advise employers on the benefits of apprenticeships, levy utilisation, funding and compliance.
  • Conduct Organisational Needs Analysis and develop tailored training proposals to meet employer workforce needs.
  • Use market and labour market intelligence to identify new opportunities, growth areas and employer prospects.
  • Develop relationships with sector and professional bodies to increase employer engagement and generate new business.

  • Level 3 qualification or above,
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4-9 (A-C) or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in business development, sales or business generation, ideally within apprenticeships, commercial training or a B2B environment.
  • Experience of winning new business, managing a sales pipeline and achieving targets/KPIs.
  • Strong knowledge of apprenticeships, funding and compliance would be desirable.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage and influence employers.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and develop tailored solutions and proposals.
  • Excellent organisation and time management, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using business systems.
