We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Business Start-Up Advisor to join our team at Business Sheffield. In this exciting role, you will support people across the city who are planning to start a business, offering expert advice and guidance through one-to-one sessions and workshops. You'll play a key role in Sheffield's start-up ecosystem, helping individuals assess the viability of their business ideas, develop cashflow forecasts, and register with HMRC. You'll provide tailored support to pre-start and new businesses, helping them move from ideas to reality, and signposting them to further services as needed. As part of the Launchpad programme, this role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with clients and being part of a collaborative team committed to growing local business. About Business Sheffield Business Sheffield supports businesses of all kinds, helping them establish, grow, and achieve their full potential through expert Business Advisors, a free workshop programme delivered by industry specialists, and funding and networking opportunities. We support individuals and businesses in:

• Starting up and attracting investment
• Specialist tech start-up and scale-up advice, including a pre-accelerator tech programme, TechForge
• Setting up efficient business processes
• Enhancing productivity and profitability
• Adopting low-carbon and sustainable practices
• Survival and growth on the high street
All this is underpinned by our Gateway Team, which delivers exceptional customer service and manages our workshop programme and events. The Business Sheffield team operates from Electric Works in Sheffield city centre, delivering face-to-face appointments, networking events, and workshops. • Deliver engaging workshops covering key start-up topics
• Provide tailored one-to-one advice to individuals starting a business
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, helping them progress from pre-start to start-up
• Stay up to date with legislation and trends affecting start-ups, ensuring our advice is current and relevant
• Collaborate with colleagues across Business Sheffield and the wider Sheffield City Council team
• Represent Business Sheffield at external events and meetings
This is a varied role where communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills are essential. You'll need to be confident working both independently and as part of a supportive and committed team. Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share. If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide pay slip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
