Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the implementation of the new Building Safety Levy, a national initiative that will help fund the remediation of building safety defects and improve safety standards across the country. As one of the first authorities to administer the levy, we are looking for someone who enjoys working with legislation, financial administration, and customer service to help deliver this important new responsibility., As the Building Safety Levy Officer, you will be responsible for the administration of the Building Safety Levy process, including assessing levy liability, issuing notices, collecting payments, monitoring compliance, and supporting enforcement activity where necessary. You will play a key role in ensuring the council meets its statutory responsibilities while providing excellent service to developers, agents, colleagues, and members of the public., Working closely with Building Control, Planning, Finance and Legal Services teams, you will:
- Administer the end-to-end Building Safety Levy process.
- Assess developments to determine levy liability and applicable charges.
- Issue levy notices, invoices and payment certificates.
- Monitor payments and support recovery of outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate records and audit trails using the council's systems.
- Provide advice and guidance on levy regulations to customers and stakeholders.
- Support compliance, investigations and enforcement activity.
- Produce reports and statistical information to support service delivery and governance
Herefordshire Council is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Building Safety Levy Officer to join our Building Control team., We are looking for someone who is highly organised, customer-focused and comfortable working with detailed information and legislation. You will have: - Experience in financial administration, regulatory services, development contributions or similar administrative environments.
- Experience of processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate records.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good IT skills, including experience using databases and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience of dealing with complex customer enquiries.
- An understanding of the importance of handling confidential information appropriately. Experience within local government, construction, planning, building control, enforcement or debt recovery would be advantageous, but is not essential.
