Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Building Control team for a new Building Control Officer.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will undertake site inspections, assess and approve building plans, and supervise building works to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation. You will provide professional advice and guidance to customers, developers, architects, and contractors, helping to facilitate successful project delivery while maintaining public safety.
What will you be doing?
In this role, you will manage a varied portfolio of building regulation applications appropriate to your level of Class 2 registration, ensuring that building projects comply with Building Regulations and associated legislation through both technical assessment and on-site inspection.
You will oversee allocated projects from application through to completion, reviewing plans, carrying out site inspections and providing professional advice to architects, developers, contractors and members of the public.
The role also involves investigating and resolving breaches of Building Regulations and related legislation, supporting enforcement activities where necessary and representing the Council in legal proceedings when required. In addition, you will assist in the assessment of dangerous, dilapidated and unsafe structures, support statutory responsibilities relating to building demolitions and contribute to protecting public safety across the area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable and customer-focused professional looking to play a key role in delivering a high-quality Building Control service while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and construction quality.
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to work within our recently reorganised Building Control team.
You will need to be methodical, have an attention to detail and be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
An in depth knowledge of the internal computer administration system (DEF) is preferred.
You must be a registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator - Minimum Class 2A.
