Building Control Officer

Erewash Borough Council is on the lookout for a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Building Control Officer to play a key role in delivering expert guidance across a broad range of domestic, commercial, and mixed-use developments. What You'll Be Doing:

• Assessing building regulation applications and carrying out site inspections
• Contributing to safe, sustainable, and compliant developments across Erewash, Broxtowe, Mansfield, Ashfield and Gedling.
• Supporting demolition licensing and the dangerous structures response service
• Mentoring Assistant Building Control Officers and supporting professional development
• Participating in out-of-hours emergency standby on a rota basis
  
  Degree in Building Surveying (or equivalent relevant experience) or HNC/HND in construction and experience as a qualified Building Surveyor
• Ideally corporate membership or working towards corporate membership of:
o CABE, CIOB, or RICS
• Willingness (or ability) to achieve LABC Level 6 Competency through assessment and achieve level 2F validation with the Building Safety Regulator
• Understanding of the Building Act 1984 and the Building Regulations
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to maintaining high service standards, Disability Confident
