In this important role, you will oversee the day-to-day cleaning operations across Council-managed buildings, ensuring our facilities remain clean, safe and welcoming for staff, residents and visitors.

We seek the best talent from the widest pool of people as diversity and inclusion is the key to our success. Reading Borough Council is a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to the recruitment and continued employment of people with disabilities.

About The Role:
Reporting to the Cleaning Services Manager, you will supervise teams of cleaning operatives, allocate daily duties, monitor performance and ensure excellent standards of cleanliness are consistently maintained.

You will also:

Lead and support cleaning teams across multiple sites
Carry out quality audits and inspections
Promote safe working practices and compliance with Health & Safety regulations including COSHH and Manual Handling
Manage stock levels and cleaning supplies efficiently
Respond to staffing changes including sickness and holiday cover
Liaise with contractors, service providers and building users
Support recruitment and training of cleaning staff
Deputise for the Cleaning Services Manager when required

You will also demonstrate professionalism, discretion and the ability to lead and motivate staff effectively. A BICSc qualification (or equivalent experience) and a full UK driving licence are essential.

You'll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability.
