We are seeking committed and enthusiastic BOOST Officers to join our Faculty of Community Studies (FCS) or Faculty of Technology Studies (FTS). These roles will support students either at Folly Lane Campus or within the Faculty of Technology Studies at Holme Lacy Campus. The successful candidates will work collaboratively within their allocated faculty to support the delivery of BOOST sessions and provide high-quality drop-in academic learning support for students. The role is focused on helping learners overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement and attendance, and achieve their full potential. The BOOST Academic Support Officer will oversee and manage students attending BOOST sessions within Learning Resource Centres (LRCs) and identified study areas, maintain accurate BOOST registers and support the smooth day-to-day running of the programme. The role includes working closely with curriculum teams, tutors and the Digital Learning Mentor to ensure students receive effective academic support and intervention. The postholder will be expected to:
- Collaborate with curriculum staff to co-design BOOST sessions aligned to course content and assessments.
- Work with the faculty to identify student needs and develop targeted, subject-specific BOOST support.
- Deliver BOOST sessions that complement classroom teaching and the personal development of students.
- Liaise regularly with teaching staff to review student progress and attendance, adapting BOOST provision accordingly.
- Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of BOOST activities through feedback and sharing best practice with staff.
- Supporting an inclusive learning environment for all students
Have experience of working with young people - Have a positive and inclusive approach to supporting learners
- Are effective communicators with strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Can work effectively as part of a team
- Use initiative and respond positively to changing situations
- Have excellent organisational and time management skills Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications, First Aid knowledge and strong IT skills are desirable.
