About this Role
Excellent Boarding Housemasters / Housemistresses are critical to the happiness and success of the school. They safeguard the wellbeing of their boys, help them to flourish and to grow as individuals. Bedford boarding houses are smaller than those at most boarding schools, usually housing about 40 boys across five year groups, due to the fact that the buildings are mostly old Edwardian homes. They are, by their very nature, homely - but are also spacious and comfortable, containing excellent communal spaces (including study rooms, games rooms and kitchens) and a mixture of shared and single rooms. The Housemasters'/ Housemistress' accommodation is similarly generous. Talbot's is set at the entrance to the school campus, and a few minutes walk to the heart of the thriving market town.
The Boarding Housemaster / Housemistress will be a member of teaching staff and will have normal teaching responsibilities in an academic department, although with reduced teaching commitments due to the Housemaster / Housemistress role. We welcome applicants from subject specialists from any subject in our Upper School curriculum. Full-time teachers at Bedford are also expected to play a part in the extensive cocurricular programme.
