The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is the regulator of solicitors and law firms in England and Wales, overseeing more than 200,000 solicitors and 9,000 firms in a sector that contributes around £60bn annually to the UK economy. As the legal services market continues to evolve, shaped by technological change, shifting consumer expectations and increasing regulatory complexity, the SRA must continue to adapt to remain an effective, modern regulator acting in the public interest.

The SRA is looking to appoint two new Non-Executive Board members, to join the SRA Board. Candidates should have previous experience of governance and strategic leadership in a significant, complex or changing organisation. The SRA is particularly interested in individuals with either of the following:

  • A qualified lawyer with meaningful experience in the delivery of digital legal services and/or legal services provision using innovative models.

  • Or

  • Someone with the understanding and experience to enable them to take on the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC), preferably with an appropriate financial qualification.

Across all appointments, candidates will demonstrate political acumen, strong analytical capability, sound judgement, and a clear commitment to accountability, transparency, openness and debate consistent with the principles of public life. A demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and an understanding of its practical application at Board level, is essential.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to the Solicitors Regulation Authority on this appointment.
