Full Job Description

The Black Students Network (BSN) aims to support student wellbeing and professional development, and foster a sense of community and belonging amongst Black students at Bath. The BSN Student Ambassadors work with Student Support to create, deliver and promote a programme of BSN activities for Black students throughout the academic year. There are opportunities to organise, lead and support student events, create comms material (social media content, blogs, web content), network with students and staff, and work with various departments across the University., The Black Students Network (BSN) aims to support student wellbeing and professional development, and foster a sense of community and belonging amongst black students at Bath. The BSN Ambassadors will help us to deliver and grow the Network and promote it to University of Bath Students (and staff), providing vital student voice on an ongoing basis. In this role, you could be working on a variety of tasks. We will explore your individual skills, interests and availability if successful at interview, but the tasks would include some of the below:

  • Organise, plan, deliver and support a programme of BSN events for students (online and in person).
  • Create and support comms - writing blogs, web content, social media content.
  • Be part of the ongoing development of the BSN, providing ideas and feedback individually and as part of a working group.
  • Liaise with the SU, SU Societies, student groups and departmental staff to strengthen our partnership working and increase awareness of the BSN.
  • Assist the evaluation of the BSN and the collection, analysis and dissemination of student feedback and data.
  • Be pro-active and forthcoming in your ideas in order to enhance the impact of the BSN and respond to student need.
  • Get involved in other opportunities that Student Support offers, such as supporting our regular groups for wellbeing and promoting our wellbeing offer to students, The roles require our Ambassadors to attend the compulsory training which will cover:
  • Safeguarding, Risk & Confidentiality
  • Training specific to the project

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be enthusiastic, reliable, and punctual
  • Ability to engage with, and enthuse a wide range of students
  • Understanding the experiences of a range of students who identify as Black or of mixed Black ethnicity
  • Ability to represent student voice of a range of students who identify as Black or of mixed Black ethnicity
  • A commitment to improving the student experience for Black students at Bath
  • Current experience as a student at the University of Bath.
  • Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of organising meetings and / or events
  • Ability to create engaging, inclusive communications material and increase the awareness of the BSN amongst students (only desirable if you would be interested in the comms side of the role)
  • Pre-recruitment checks and training

    £13.45 per hour
