The post-holder is a highly experienced, state registered Senior Biomedical Scientist and performs scientific investigations in the diagnosis of infectious diseases, the role also includes managing the information and computer systems used by the Microbiology service. Involved in the daily supervision of Biomedical Scientists and support staff. Has technical responsibility of a section of the laboratory. Scientists in this grade take charge of a section of work and will be expected to supervise and train qualified and unqualified staff.   • Registration with Health Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • MSc / FIBMS / HSD and minimum of 1 years of experience working as a Senior BMS.
  • MSc / FIBMS / HSD with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Specialist BMS and with evidence of supervisory experience.
  • Desirable
  • A management qualification., Demonstrates good organisational skills in a pressurised work environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Good time management skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work competently unsupervised.
  • Demonstrates ability to deliver training and appraise others and undertake training needs analysis.
