We have an opportunity for you to join our friendly and professional team in Microbiology as a Biomedical Associate Practitioner. Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • complete highly technical tasks and support the biomedical scientist workforce in providing high quality service provision.
  • Support the laboratory processes to maintain compliance with UKAS ISO 15189 standards, ensuring accurate recording keeping and document control.
  • Act as the first contact point for routine daily maintenance problems on analyzers, taking necessary actions to resolve issues or escalate appropriately.
  • Participate in 7 day working and shifts.
  • Working as part of the team, you will contribute to the provision and further development of a high quality diagnostic service. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join a department dedicated to providing the highest quality patient care. Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS) is one of the largest Pathology networks within the UK, it is UKAS accredited as a network and is hosted by UHCW. Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP., 1. Responsible for completing routine and non-routine tests in the laboratory up to the point of interpretation. Able to apply scientific knowledge (as outlined in the person specification) to recognise erroneous results and take action to rectify these and alert relevant HCPC registered staff of issues 2. Able to work autonomously to limits described in standard operating procedures and HCPC registered staff. 3. Work in line with departmental managers to lead the BMA workforce to deliver on agreed departmental objectives. 4. Plan and organize own workload and direct and support lower grades of staff as required. 5. Responsible for inputting accurate and timely patient and specimen data on to Trust computerised systems 6. Be aware of and comply with health and safety considerations in the laboratory to maintain your safety and the safety of those around you 7. Undertake preparation of an extended range of samples for testing by laboratory staff and provide support with laboratory tasks as required by BMS staff.
