Full Job Description
The Bike Hire Lead is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the bike hire fleet. The role leads on mechanical standards, inspections, servicing, fault resolution, and record keeping, whilst supporting day-to-day bike hire operations, customer safety, and experience. This position provides technical leadership and ensures all bikes, PPE, and related equipment always meet company safety and quality standards., Bike Hire Lead & Site Management Support
Act as the technical lead for the bike hire activity on site.
Day to day management of site bikes team. Support, mentor & train team members where required.
Ongoing collaboration with the Site Management Team to review the commercial impact of the hire offering and adapt the operation as needed.
Ensure staffing levels and schedules are tailored to daily operational requirements, including effective management of breaks and shift timings in collaboration with the Site Management Team.
Monitoring future availability on the booking system and flagging/taking action as agreed with the Site Management Team.
Responsible for completing end of day reports, handover notes, daily, weekly, monthly tasks & reports as laid out by the Site Management Team and Operations Manual.
Work closely with Site and Duty Management & where required support the rest of the site in their operation.
Bike Maintenance & Fleet Management
Lead inspection, servicing, repair, and ongoing maintenance of the bike hire fleet.
Ensure bikes are maintained in a safe, serviceable condition in line with company standards and manufacturer guidance.
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently.
Maintain accurate service, inspection, and repair records.
Identify preventative maintenance needs and recurring issues.
Maintain workshop areas, tools, and spare parts stock.
Actively promote the sale of ex-hire fleet in off-peak season to ensure a continued health of the current fleet offering.
PPE & Equipment
Inspect, issue, fit, and maintain PPE used for bike hire.
Ensure PPE is compliant, serviceable, and correctly recorded.
Report faults promptly and maintain inspection records.
Health & Safety
Always demonstrate exemplary Health & Safety standards by following safe systems of work as outlined in your training and in the operational manuals.
Ensure your own safety and those with whom you are working
Ensure safe operation, use, and storage of all equipment.
Record, report and investigate accidents and incidents consulting with the Duty Manager and/or Duty Operations.
Ensure customers complete relevant paperwork and comply with company rules and policy.
Remain up to date with emergency procedures and site safety files.
Customer Experience
Welcome customers and provide customer WOW whilst you prepare them to take part in their activity
Deliver the adventure, ensuring an amazing customer experience
Instruct and brief customers in the safety procedures and the safe way of using the bikes.
Do everything within reason to minimise customer complaints and maximise satisfaction, attempting to resolve issues at site.
Assist with customer enquiries and resolve issues where possible.
A 'customer comes first' attitude with drive and enthusiasm to achieve customer WOW!
Safety conscious frame of mind, with a professional outlook
Ability to work under own initiative without supervision - there's always someone around to help if you do need support

Must be able to get to site - which may mean having your own transport as some of our sites are remote without public transport links

IT Literate
Desirable
Experience in a bike hire or outdoor leisure environment.
Bike mechanics experience. Ideally certified mechanics training such as Cytech, Velotech, City & Guilds, Cycle Systems Academy, The Bike Inn.
2-day First Aid at Work or equivalent certificate
Leadership or mentoring experience.
Experience contributing to risk assessments or safety documentation.
Coaching and training experience.
