Bereavement Midwife

We areseekinga highly motivated, compassionate, and enthusiastic midwife to join our specialist Bereavement Team based at Birmingham Women's Hospital. This rewarding roleprovidesan opportunity to support women, their partners, and families experiencing pregnancy and baby loss, from early pregnancy loss through to stillbirth, neonatal death, and intosubsequentpregnancies following loss. The post holder will coordinate and deliver specialist bereavement care that is compassionate, family-centred, holistic, andequitable, ensuring that the individual needs, wishes, and preferences of each family remain at the heart of their care., Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant will play a key role in supporting midwifery, nursing, medical, and allied health professional colleagues to deliver consistently high standardsof bereavement care across the Trust. The role also includes leading and contributing to the education, training, and development of staff to promote best practice and compassionate care. The post holder will manage a caseload of bereaved families, and will coordinate their bereavement care, they will need to be highly motivated and able to organise their workload whilst meeting the day to requests made of the bereavement team. This position offers excellent opportunities for professional development, with access to specialist education and training to further enhance clinicalexpertiseand leadership in bereavement care. • Registered Midwife BSc or equivalent degree, Mentorship qualification
• Counseling qualification or have undertaken related bereavement support study days, Evidence of completion of band 5 preceptorship programme
• Extensive experience of caring for bereaved families
• Knowledge of the legal framework around perinatal loss
• Knowledge of current policy drivers relating to pregnancy and baby loss
• Knowledge of challenges facing bereaved families including aspects of spiritual and religious care
• Effective internet and IT (Information Technology) skills
• Understanding of clinical governance and its relationship to the role
• Understanding of the Human Tissue Act and Guidelines in relation to pregnancy and baby loss
• Confident in caring for women with complex needs
• Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge and experience of care pathways, and patient experience surrounding early pregnancy loss and termination of pregnancy, Ability to prioritise and manage workload
• Ability to undertake audits
• Ability to make confident and sound decisions in complex and stressful situations, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Works independently, using initiative while understanding the boundaries of own role and competence., Demonstrates commitment to professional development
• Has a commitment to educate others for the benefit of all
• Evidence of advanced communication skills required for the role
• Demonstrates understanding of the importance of supportive working in a team.
