Full Job Description

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a researcher with a passion for interdisciplinary behavioural research. The successful candidate will work closely with the Academic Lead - SPARK Behavioural Lab and collaborate with academics and researchers across the University and with non-academic partners who are interested in conducting behavioural experiments. We're looking for someone who:

  • Is an ambitious and entrepreneurial researcher who is enthusiastic about the contribution of behavioural research and experimentation
  • Is excited to contribute to a dynamic, collaborative interdisciplinary community at Cardiff University
  • Can proactively promote the Lab's capabilities to researchers within and beyond the university, fostering collaboration and increasing engagement
  • The successful post holder is expected to have experience with the processing of collecting behavioural data and commonly used behavioural and analytical software. This post is part time (0.5 FTE, 17.5 hours per week) and fixed term to 31 July 2028.

The Social Science Research Park (SPARK) at Cardiff University is seeking to appoint a highly-motivated researcher to support the newly created SPARK Behavioural Lab housed within the sbarcIspark building.

Salary: £41,064 - £46,049 per annum, pro rata for hours worked (Grade 6), Cardiff University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity and to creating an inclusive working environment. We believe this can be achieved through attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse range of staff from many different backgrounds. We therefore welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of sex, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, trans identity, relationship status, religion or belief, caring responsibilities, or age. We especially welcome and encourage applications from those under-represented groups within the University workforce, such as those who identify as LGBT+, Ethnic Minority or those with disabilities. In supporting our employees to achieve a balance between their work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements. Applications may be submitted in Welsh, and an application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English. Cardiff University is a signatory to the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), which means that in hiring and promotion decisions we will evaluate applicants on the quality of their research, not publication metrics or the identity of the journal in which the research is published.
