Bank Ward Nurse / Registered Nurse Location: Wetherby / Bowcliffe Hall area Contract Type: Bank / zero-hour contract We are recruiting for a Bank Ward Nurse / Registered Nurse in the Wetherby area, paying up to £30 per hour. The role requires flexibility to cover shifts across York and Bradford. This would suit an NMC-registered nurse with ward, theatre, outpatient, general surgery or ophthalmology experience who is looking for flexible bank work within specialist eye care. This is a great opportunity for a registered nurse with ward, theatre, ophthalmology, peri-operative or outpatient experience who is looking for flexible bank work within a modern specialist eye care environment. You will work as part of a skilled multi-disciplinary team, supporting patients throughout their ophthalmic surgical pathway. Job Purpose As part of the clinical team, you will provide safe, high-quality care to patients before, during and after ophthalmic procedures. The role will include supporting the surgical and refractive pathway, providing peri-operative and post-operative care, and assisting the wider clinical team to ensure a smooth and positive patient experience. Key Responsibilities
- Support patients throughout their ophthalmic care pathway
- Provide pre-operative, peri-operative and post-operative care
- Assist with surgical lists, theatre flow and ward-based patient care
- Provide clear instructions and reassurance to patients and carers
- Administer medication and treatments in line with NMC standards and local policies
- Use clinical judgement to identify concerns requiring consultant or surgeon inputMaintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
- Support infection prevention, clinical governance and patient safety standards
- Work closely with consultants, theatre teams, nurses and wider clinical colleagues
- Help maintain a calm, professional and caring patient experience What We're Looking For
- Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration
- 1 year post-qualification nursing experience
- Previous experience in ophthalmology, theatre, general surgery, ward nursing or outpatients
- Ophthalmology or peri-operative experience would be highly desirable
- Confident working in a clinical environment and supporting surgical pathways
- Flexible approach to bank shifts
