The post holder will provide delegated, supervised work and duties assigned by a Registered Nurse /midwife as appropriate, ensuring that there is continual feedback to the Registered nurse about the patients condition.The post holder will contribute to the delivery of quality patient care to meet their physical, psychological and social needs maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.

To support the promotion of health and prevent ill-health in staff, patients and their relatives.

Promote and maintain a safe and pleasant environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Check the readiness for use of emergency/special equipment and ensure all equipment in use, is in good working order.

The post holder must keep up to date with all mandatory training requirements for the post., We strive to provide a high standard of care to our patients and actively encourage independence where appropriate. You will work under the direction of a qualified nurse to assist patients with a wide range of daily activities.

Have knowledge and understanding of all relevant Trust policies, including the Major Incident Plan.

Have knowledge of and adhere to relevant parts of national legislation, including Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH Regulations, and Moving and Handling Regulations

Transport people and/or items safely and to time consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.

To report any faulty equipment in the trust to shift co-ordinators to ensure quick maintenance carried out., You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a good knowledge of IT systems. You need to have the ability to act on your own initiative and work well within a team. Reliability, flexibility and commitment to Lewisham and Greenwich NHS TrustValuesare essential characteristics you will need to succeed in this role.

Needs to have a full range of movement as will be required to undertake a variety of manual handling skills.

Be prepared to deal with bereaved families and friends.

Canbe a stressful environment- there is a risk of exposure to verbal/physical aggression.

The post-holder must be flexible and adaptable to change.

Ensure works within infection control policies- high risk of working with body fluids present., We are looking for patient-focused, caring HCAs who have at least6 monthsprovenNHSexperience as a Health Care Assistant working in aGeneral/Acutehospital environment or 2 years proven experience working in a care home.
