Full Job Description

The post holder is the first point of contact to Th Hillingdon Hospitals for the public through operation of the Trust's switchboard. As such this is an important role involving being an ambassador for the Trust.
The post holder will work as part of a small team providing switchboard services to the public and to Trust staff. They will work on their own initiative and make immediate decisions, answering calls and dealing with each query in a professional manner.
The post holder will also answer emergency calls in a timely manner e.g. medical crash teams, on-call staff, fire services, alarms, etc., · To deal and log report faults and maintaining on call roster information and changes
· To answer and transfer all incoming calls in a timely and professional manner and assist callers with their enquiries using the computerised switchboard.
· To provide empathy, support, and be sympathetic and helpful to callers, where English is not their first language or where they are distressed or bereaved callers.
· To be proficient in database directories using BT software and keyboard skills.
· To operate paging systems being concise with appropriate messages often having to use medical terminology when communicating with clinical staff.

The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit, and outpatient clinics.

We have over 3,500 members of staff that are proud to care for nearly half a million people, with a vision to be an outstanding provider of healthcare through leading health and academic partnerships, transforming services, to provide the best care where needed., · To report and log Medical gas alarms to the appropriate department
· To Initiate 999 calls for the Trust as and when required.
· To respond and initiate the Major Incident Procedure and participate fully with confidence and accuracy in passing vital information to relevant Trust staff.
· To be the contact point for lone workers in event of an alert being triggered.
· To test all Emergency Communication lines within the Trust e.g. Bleeping System, 2222 and 3333 phone lines, Maternity, A&E, and Switchboard external phone lines, the Trust Backup lines on a weekly basis.
· Test all the Cardiac Arrest Team bleeps on a daily basis, execute monthly Major Incident internal bleeps and the Major Incident Group air pager, record, and report any problems.
