Band 8a Highly Specialist Practitioner Psychologist

Do you enjoy working in multidisciplinary settings where psychological perspectives can contribute to the understanding complex clinical presentations?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reflective Practitioner Psychologist to join the West Midlands Adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Service at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.

The service provides specialist care to adults with CF from across the region. Psychology is a valued part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing alongside medical, nursing and allied healthcare colleagues. This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills within a well-established regional service where psychological perspectives are actively sought and integrated into care.

You will work within a supportive psychosocial team and have opportunities to connect with colleagues across UHB's Department of Psychological Services, providing access to a wider network of psychologists, professional support and shared learning. The post also offers opportunities to contribute to service development, research, audit, evaluation and quality improvement activities., You will provide psychological assessment, intervention and consultation to adults with CF and their families/carers, supporting adjustment, coping and emotional wellbeing.

You will contribute psychological perspectives to multidisciplinary discussions, promote formulation-led thinking and support person-centred, psychologically informed care across the service.

We are looking for someone interested in understanding how emotional, relational, behavioural and social factors interact with physical health, treatment engagement and quality of life. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with complexity, contributing to multidisciplinary decision-making and bringing curiosity, reflection and collaborative working to their clinical practice.
