Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to join our Clinical Neuropsychology Service. We are part of the wider Clinical Health and Neuropsychology Service, providing neuropsychology and clinical health services within the London borough of Ealing which is a leafy green and bustling borough situated in West London. The area serves a highly diverse population, with multiple ethnic and cultural communities, a wide range of languages spoken, and significant socio-economic variation, presenting both opportunities and challenges for service delivery.

The Clinical Neuropsychology Service is integrated across both the Community Neurorehabilitation Team (Enable) and the inpatient Level 3 Neurorehabilitation Unit at Clayponds Hospital, providing psychologically-informed assessment and intervention across the rehabilitation pathway. The postholder will join a well-established multidisciplinary service working closely with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, rehabilitation assistants, as well as nursing and medical colleagues.

We are looking for someone with experience of neuropsychological rehabilitation and/or neuropsychological assessment and intervention with patients with neurological conditions. The post would particularly suit someone who enjoys working with varied client groups, teamwork, providing consultation and teaching to other health professionals, and contributing to service development.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will provide highly specialist neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation for individuals with neurological conditions. This will include cognitive assessment and rehabilitation, psychological therapy to support emotional adjustment and engagement in rehabilitation, behavioural interventions, and consultation to the wider multidisciplinary team. The role will also involve working with families and carers, as well as contributing to teaching, supervision, and service development.

The role will also include assisting in clinically related administration, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

The role is expected to be primarily based within the Community Neurorehabilitation Team, supporting patients in their homes, community settings, and outpatient clinics. However, as part of a flexible and integrated service model, there may also be opportunities or service requirements to contribute to the inpatient neurorehabilitation unit.
