We are seeking an exceptional, highly motivated, and experienced Children's Nurse to join our expanding Children's Directorate as a Children's Site Practitioner (CSP). This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished nursing leader to make a significant contribution to the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care for children, young people, and their families. As a CSP, you will provide visible, credible, and inspirational leadership across a range of children's services, promoting excellence in patient care, safety, and experience. Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, you will deliver expert clinical advice and utilise advanced clinical skills to support high-quality decision-making and patient management across the Directorate. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high standards of clinical care, maintaining effective patient flow, and supporting operational decision-making across the organisation. You will proactively
identify risks, resource challenges, and service pressures, taking timely action to develop and implement effective solutions that support safe and efficient care delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking nurse who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people, driving quality improvement, and leading teams through complex clinical and operational challenges.
Main duties of the job
Provide a clinically credible senior children's nursing service, demonstrating expert knowledge and clinical skills, as the practitioner responsible for the assessment of children's needs and utilisation of appropriate resources to meet them, in association with the on-call
Medical team and as part of the children's hospital at night team.
Provide expert advice on issues related to children's nursing.
Liaise with the Trust Site Team and bed managers to make sure that the bed base is used to optimum efficiency. Identify any shortfall to the Service
Manager/Senior Site Operations Manager if beds are closed for staffing or Infection reasons.
To work closely with the children's services/NICU Matrons and ward managers, to develop and implement systems for reviewing expenditure controls, cost pressures and risks related to areas of responsibility
We're an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we're proud of and our patients are happy with.
They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.
We operate from two main sites - KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We're campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen's and get rid of corridor care.
We're proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
We run a Women's Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The majority of our 8,400 staff - who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We're proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
