Full Job Description

The post holder will co-ordinate compliance work programmes on all Trust sites, working closely with specialties groups and Directorates in conjunction with the site, specialties and directorate management teams. The post holder will be required to ensure the Trust achieves maximal compliance with regards to water quality/safety and be the lead with regard to water hygiene on behalf of the Trust. They will be responsible for the delivery and verification of compliance with relevant legislation, ACoP's and standards across all WHHT sites and the production of supporting reports and statistics., Be responsible for leading on activities in accordance with workload requirements including external reviews and accreditations such as the Care Quality Commission Standards, Monitor and peer reviews. Manage and lead complex programmes to ensure delivery of major business critical, water hygiene and infrastructure projects, ensuring that where any gaps in compliance have been identified, there is a robust action/monitoring plan in place with escalation as appropriate. Represent the Environment Division at regular and irregular internal forums, e.g. Water Safety Group, Infection Prevention and Control group etc. and lead on the provision of professional advice, opinion and analysis on the management of all water related operations. Undertake the formal role of RP (Responsible Person) Water, including undertaking formal training and familiarisation of the Trusts systems. Subsequent to a formal assessment by the Trusts AE Water the appointment of RP Water will be in writing., Taking a leadership role in implementing compliance processes and systems for the Trust across all sites in co-operation with key operational and clinical leads. Identifying water safety, SAP/AP, quality or hygiene concerns/risks that require escalation to senior management. Providing robust management reports ensuring that the organisation and divisions are able to report by exception deficiencies identified within the regulatory framework. Compile briefings and reports as required for the board providing detailed information on legislative requirements. Design, produce and update policies within the directorate relevant to water quality. Produce standards, specifications, standard operating procedures, written schemes and management plans as required. Managing contractors or sub-contractors appointed to carryout planned preventative maintenance, remedial or capital works. Participating in the Estates out of hours management on-call rota. Working at all Trust sites and required to travel between sites on a regular basis during both normal and out of hours. Undertaking other duties appropriate to the level of the role as may be reasonably required by the Estates Operations Manager or estates. senior managers.

  • Engineering Masters Degree HND, HNC or equivalent.
  • Post relevant CPD, Detailed knowledge of water quality and safety e.g. -Safe water in healthcare premises (HTM 04-01). -Water engineering for healthcare.
  • Detailed knowledge of water related statutory instruments, national standards, guidance, ACOPs and SOPs.
  • Legionella: Role of the Responsible Person.
  • General IT literacy.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in healthcare environment, Process water and water processing technology.
  • Knowledge of the NHS estates suite of documents.
  • DATIX
  • CAFM system.
  • Database systems.
  • Good use of the MS Office suite.
  • An understanding of water microbiological activity.
  • Experience of acute hospital environment., Experience in a senior Water Hygiene role within a healthcare environment.
  • Also similar roles at SAP or AP level.
  • Production and update of policy documents written scheme or safety plans., Management of directly employed and contracted labour
  • Selection of contractors
  • Management of specialist maintenance/installation contractors
  • Selection, appointment and briefing for consultancy services e.g. risk assessments and water specialists
