Band 7 Research Dietitian

These posts provide outstanding research and career development opportunities for registered dietitians with an interest in mental health to be part of the delivery of the Wellcome-funded ENERGISE-BD clinical trial.

The ENERGISE-BD trial (Evaluating Nutritional Ketosis versus NHS EatWell Recommended Guidelines for Bipolar Disorder) is a randomised controlled trial for bipolar depression. It will compare the efficacy of nutritional ketosis approach with the NHS EatWell dietary guidelines.

· Contribute as a key member of a team of researchers, alongside a Senior Dietitian (Jude Munn), recruiting patients and guiding these patients on the two dietary interventions being tested in this study and other clinical research (70% of time)

· Collecting data on participants in the study, specifically relating to progress with delivering both of the nutritional interventions (10%)

· Providing day-to-day supervision and support to other members of the ENERGISE-BD team, including a postdoctoral researcher and a clinical research fellow (5% of time).

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to document recruitment progress and present progress reporting data at management group meetings (5%).

· Contribute to the presentation of research findings at national and international level conferences (if appropriate) (5% of time)

Maintain clinical skills by participation in continuing professional development (for example on the flexible delivery of nutritional ketosis approaches), as agreed with line manager (5% of time).
