Full Job Description
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and innovative Physiotherapist with a passion for the management of acute surgical patients and improving patient outcomes.
If you are currently a Band 7 Physiotherapist looking for new opportunities in this specialist area, or a Band 6 looking to progress we would love to hear from you.
You will be leading the acute surgery team with specialist knowledge of the management of patients following major surgery (e.g. gynae, colorectal, upper GI, urology), inpatients amputees and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programmes.
Our amputee pathway has developed in recent years with all amputations being completed at the Vascular Hub at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. Our local patients are repatriated to us as soon after their surgery so we continue to provide an inpatient amputee service and are looking for the candidate to have advanced clinical skills with this patient group.
You will have a wide range of clinical experience and the leadership qualities needed to support a team of physiotherapists and integrated therapy assistants to consistently deliver safe, personal and effective care to our patients., The successful candidate will provide therapeutic clinical expertise, high quality advice and support to the multi-disciplinary team. You will work closely with our MDT driving innovation of therapy provision with the wider multi-disciplinary team.
You will have the opportunity to lead on service development projects and audit to enhance care and ensure compliance with NICE and relevant standards and guidelines.
Clinical supervision, appraisal and teaching will be key components of this role. You will work closely with the B7s in the respiratory team and the Orthopaedic team to ensure the running of a streamlined and effective service.
You will be expected to be part of the respiratory on-call rota and contribute to the Respiratory and Critical Care weekend working rota with a frequency of 1:6 weekends, with rest days in the week.
We can offer you training opportunities to develop your specialist skills in line with your PDR. We have senior leadership training opportunities on a regular basis as well courses funded externally.
