Full Job Description
Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 7 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist for a locum opportunity within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Based at Amersham Hospital, this specialist role sits within the Wheelchair Service, providing expert assessment and prescription for individuals requiring long-term wheelchair provision. The successful candidate will undertake complex wheelchair, seating, postural management, and pressure care assessments for patients requiring both manual and powered wheelchairs. This role requires significant experience within a wheelchair service and expertise in wheelchair prescription.,
- Provide specialist assessment services for patients requiring long-term wheelchair use in a variety of settings.
- Assess, prescribe, and review both manual and powered wheelchairs.
- Undertake complex postural, seating, and pressure care assessments.
- Recommend and prescribe custom-made postural support equipment where required.
- Carry out detailed environmental and functional assessments and formulate action plans.
- Provide manual handling assessments and interventions relating to equipment provision.
- Work collaboratively with service users, carers, and multidisciplinary professionals to develop person-centred solutions.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in line with NHS and HCPC standards.
- Support students and contribute to service development where appropriate.
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with a strong background in wheelchair services and wheelchair prescription. You will possess advanced assessment skills in postural management, pressure care, seating, and mobility equipment provision. You will be confident working autonomously, managing complex clinical cases, and delivering person-centred solutions that maximise independence, comfort, and quality of life. Requirements - Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Essential experience working within a Wheelchair Service.
- Proven experience in wheelchair prescription (manual and powered).
- Experience undertaking complex seating, postural management, and pressure care assessments.
- Knowledge of custom-made postural support equipment.
- Experience with manual handling assessments and interventions.
- Experience supervising students desirable.
- Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
