Full Job Description
You will work as an autonomous practitioner alongside physiotherapists to provide holistic assessment, early intervention, and person-centred support for pelvic floor dysfunction. The role includes leading clinics, offering specialist advice, and supporting pathways.
The service operates across several community locations, within North Central London. You will play a key role in strengthening early identification of symptoms, promoting preventative strategies, and supporting recovery through education and targeted interventions.
As a senior member of the team, you will contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives. You will also support the upskilling of maternity staff through training, mentorship, and dissemination of current best practice in perinatal pelvic health.
This role is ideal for a midwife with a passion for pelvic health, a commitment to collaborative working, and a drive to improve experiences and outcomes for women and birthing people., To provide specialist midwife expertise across the NCL Local Maternity Neonatal Service (LMNS) and support in the development of the NCL Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS).
The post holder will be working jointly with another Pelvic Health Specialist Midwife in providing services across the NCL local maternity and neonatal system (LMNS) and working collaboratively with Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapists in community PPHS clinics.
Working location may include Community Health/ Children's Centres in Islington, Haringey and/or Camden, and the Whittington and University College London Hospitals. They will be required to travel to other NCL LMNS on occasion for the purpose of audit and training.
Contribute to deliver the priorities of the NCLS PPHS which include:
Embedding evidence-based practice in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care to prevent and mitigate pelvic health issues resulting from pregnancy and childbirth.
Improving the rate of identification of pelvic health issues antenatally and postnatally.
Ensuring timely access to NICE-recommended treatment for common pelvic health issues antenatally and postnatally.
To develop, pilot, implement and audit a new screening tool to identity women at a higher risk of the PFD.
