Radiotherapy Department - Reading & BracknellAgenda for Change: Band 7Permanent / Full-time (37.5 hours per week)Flexible working, shifts and on-call participation required. We are seeking an experienced, motivated and highly skilled Therapeutic Radiographer to join our Radiotherapy team as aBand 7 Treatment Team Leader. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within the treatment service, providing advanced clinical practice alongside operational and professional leadership of a designated Radiotherapy Treatment Unit. You will work across our Reading and Bracknell sites, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred radiotherapy care.,

  • Act as Treatment Team Leader Radiographer for a designated treatment unit, with responsibility for day-to-day operational management, staff coordination and service delivery.
  • Lead, motivate and support radiographers, assistants and learners, ensuring safe staffing, effective skill-mix & high professional standards.
  • Practise autonomously at an advanced clinical level, delivering complex radiotherapy treatments & interpreting treatment verification imaging.
  • Exercise professional judgement under IR(ME)R, including decisions to proceed, modify, delay or suspend treatment.
  • Manage a defined cohort of radiotherapy patients, providing expert clinical care & using advanced communication skills to support patients & carers through the treatment phase of their pathway.
  • Maintain & develop high technical & clinical standards, including the implementation and evaluation of new techniques, technologies & equipment.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, research & quality improvement, supporting compliance with national guidance & maintenance of accredited quality systems.
  • Actively contribute to education, training, supervision, appraisal & competency assurance for staff and learners, and act as a senior role model within the department.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team & wider cancer network, ensuring effective communication and seamless patient care.
  • Deputise for senior radiotherapy leaders as required and participate in service development across the department., To act as a Clinical Radiographer in operational management of the treatment area. This includes leading and motivating staff groups and delivering training where necessary.
  • Use and develop clinical evidence based knowledge and actively participate in, and develop pre-treatment and treatment practices.
  • To actively participate in the clinical audit, research and clinical governance in relation to the development of techniques and equipment.
  • To contribute to the maintenance of CHKS accredited quality system for the department.
  • To ensure high technical standards are maintained during the implementation and evaluation of new equipment and treatment techniques.
  • To actively participate in the staff training, education and CPD programmes, including therapeutic radiographers, assistants and students.
  • To work across both sites (Reading and Bracknell) as required.

    Diploma of the college of radiographers or BSc (Hons) equivalent
  • HCPC registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer
  • Post graduate qualifications or experience gained on the job equivalent to Masters degree level
  • Evidence of CPD, Previous experience of working as a senior radiographer
  • Highly specialised knowledge of all aspects of the radiotherapy pathway
